Pro-choice rape survivor from Kentucky who aided Beshear now helping Biden

The young woman who made national news last year when she appeared in a television commercial for Governor Beshear is doing the same for President Biden. Hadley Duvall was 12 when she was raped and impregnated by her stepfather before miscarrying. Some political observers say her ad criticizing Republican gubernatorial candidate Daniel Cameron’s “no exceptions” stance on abortion helped Beshear beat him. In the new ad running in battleground states, she accuses the Trump-Vance campaign of not caring about women or girls. She told WEKU the Republican platform plank leaving abortion up to the states is a sham.
“J.D. Vance wants to access medical records of women who go to another state and seek care, even if it is legal. So you want to leave it up the states, but then you want to limit if you can even leave your state and get medical help?”
Vance has supported that position, though he’s softened his stance on abortion since beginning to be considered as a possible running mate for former President Trump. Duvall told WEKU she’s not fazed by the criticism she’s received, then and now.
“The biggest thing that the haters can need to realize is that they should feel blessed to not be in the situation, to not have to understand how I do, and you know, they should also know that I actually lived through a living hell.”
Duvall, who recently received her bachelor’s degree from Midway University, said she’s a surrogate for the Biden-Harris campaign, which contacted her to ask if she’d appear in an ad for them.
