Woodford County will be home to a new whiskey based project from Saga Spirits. The 92-point-5 million dollar project is going to be built on 150 acres in Versailles.
Governor Beshear shared some of the plans for the new attraction.
“The site will include a distillery, an interactive visitors center, a tasting room, lodging, a restaurant, retail and event space. It’s going to be a great destination for tourists, bourbon enthusiasts, and Kentuckians. The company will also make improvements to the Kentucky Castle, renovating guest rooms, the restaurant, whiskey bar, and event space.”
The Governor said this is a continuation of last year’s booming bourbon industry in Kentucky.
“The industry provided 2.55 million tours on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail for visitors from across the globe. All the while, the industry supported more than 23,100 jobs with annual salaries and wages totaling 1.63 billion dollars or 2.2 billion if you include benefits.”
The new project is also expected to create 89 full time jobs.
