Mayor Linda Gorton unveiled the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s new website today.

“We’ve overhauled lexingtonky.gov to make it easier to use, easier to understand and easier to search,” Gorton said. “We will be celebrating our community’s 250th birthday in 2025 with a streamlined, high tech website that is state-of-the-art.”

After an overnight installation, the new website was fully operational this morning.

The redesigned website serves as the main online hub for City services. With a modern design and a more intuitive structure for navigation, the new website seeks to provide a helpful and user-friendly experience for residents and businesses who interact with city government.

The City sought feedback from the community to guide the project. An online survey conducted in February yielded close to 450 responses and revealed what visitors to the current site liked most, and what they found challenging. A diverse group of residents also participated in a Community Listening Session to share their experiences with the website and ideas for improvement.

The website was developed with an adaptive design that is viewable from a desktop or a mobile device, and follows international guidelines for accessibility to make its content welcoming to people of all abilities. A translation feature allows for viewing in over 100 languages.

Lexington partnered with Interpersonal Frequency, a Virginia-based company focused on developing websites for the public sector, for the project.
