Lexington city leaders and others cut the ribbon for the new Davis Park Workforce Center Monday. Mayor Linda Gorton said the workforce center will serve all city residents and businesses.
“Computers and other resources are available here for individuals who want to search for jobs, hold virtual interviews, work on their resumes, participate in online training and much, much more.”
One of the speakers at Monday’s event was Chelsie Caudill, who received workforce assistance through the Lexington Rescue Mission, a city partner.
“I have learned so many different things, like how to do interviews. The practice with mock interviews helped me a lot with confidence in how to speak and things to say and not to say or do. I learned the importance of connections.”
The Davis Park Workforce Center has staffers who’ll help jobseekers write resumes, look for jobs and take part in online training. Gorton said redevelopment of the Davis Park area has been in the works for 25 years, with rebuilt roads, new affordable housing, a new park and a new community center.
