Lexington rejoins National League of Cities
Originally published by WEKU.
Lexington is rejoining the National League of Cities. The group represents nearly 20,000 population centers and advocates for them at the national level.
That means more resources for city officials and employees. They’ll be able to attend trainings, workshops and networking sessions with other cities and towns nationwide.
Lexington had previously been a member from 1983 to 2011. The Urban County Council voted to rejoin the group late last year.
Councilwoman Denise Gray brought the proposal to rejoin after attending a League of Cities conference last summer. She said in a release she was able to brainstorm new ideas for Lexington at the conference.
