News release provided by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government

Work is beginning on a project to construction 8,000 feet of sanitary sewer line along New Circle Road corridor. Construction will begin the week of Feb. 10 near Colesbury Circle and will proceed along the access road first.

This nearly two year long project will replace aging sanitary sewer infrastructure that is over 55 years old. Construction will run from Newtown Pike to Bryan Station Road. The majority of work is on the side of the road, but one lane may be closed at times for safety reasons.

Business driveway access will be maintained during construction. Construction activities will not affect the Legacy Trail. This summer, construction will go through Elkhorn Park. Nearby residences will be notified when park access is affected.

Construction is part of New Circle Road sanitary sewer trunks A and B. Approximately 8,000 feet of sanitary sewer will be constructed along the New Circle Road corridor by the end of 2026. This project is part of the federal consent decree requirements for Lexington to improve its sanitary sewer system.
