Lexington’s 250th anniversary commission honors the city’s trailblazing history in education with Education Month in March.

“Since our earliest days, education has been at the center of what makes Lexington stand apart from other cities. All month long, 250Lex will take us on a journey to our past – highlighting the people, places and events who shaped our educational landscape,” Mayor Linda Gorton said.

250Lex Commission Member Annissa Franklin said, “March may be known for March Madness, but in 2025, we’re making it a slam dunk for education! Join us as we turn the spotlight on learning, opportunity, and the power of knowledge to transform lives. Education is the real championship – and we’re all in!” Franklin serves as the Vice President of the Urban League of Lexington.
