Calling all music lovers … Mayor Linda Gorton today announced the 250Lex Month of Music, a first-of-its-kind, month-long celebration of music throughout April.
“Our 250th anniversary is a celebration of all things Lexington, and we’re excited to celebrate the talented songwriters, musicians and performers who have shaped our city’s vibrant and talented music community,” Mayor Linda Gorton said.
The 250Lex Month of Music is part of the city’s month-long focus on music and the written word.
250Lex Co-Chair Kip Cornett said, “Lexington has always been a city in love with music, and 250Lex is proud to present that first-of-its-kind Month of Music, where the people, the places and performances will reverberate throughout town. From Al’s Bar to Kroger Field, we can promise there’s something for every musical taste.”
Over 25 different venues will showcase performances. Participating artists include the Ben Lacy and Cory Cross, Stillhouse Junkies, Nappy Roots, the UK Lab Band, and Tee Dee Young, among many others.
250Lex Ambassador David Helmers said, “As we celebrate our city’s 250th anniversary, we wanted to share a calendar of events that highlights opportunities to see live music performances all over town. You will find something every day of the month, of varying genres, from orchestral to hip-hop. From intimate rooms, to arena and stadium concerts, we have something for everyone. Many of the events are free to attend, and we welcome you to enjoy 250Lex’s Month of Music.”
