Lexington man’s plea deal reveals series of firearm offenses

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Lexington man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to possessing firearms illegally due to a prior felony conviction. Bryan Anicasio-Miranda, 23, admitted to the charge as part of a plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court, which detailed several firearm-related incidents and multiple encounters with law enforcement.
According to the plea agreement, on December 18, 2022, Georgetown Police stopped an Uber vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered Miranda as a passenger. Officers detected a strong marijuana odor and subsequently found approximately 32 grams of marijuana, several hundred dollars in cash, and a Glock 26 handgun loaded with a round in the chamber and a thirty-round magazine in Miranda’s pocket.
On September 26, 2023, Miranda was involved in a high-speed pursuit across multiple counties, reaching speeds up to 120 mph. The chase ended when the vehicle he was in crashed into a stone fence. Authorities recovered five firearms, several magazines—including a 100-round drum—and over 200 rounds of ammunition, along with nearly 750 grams of marijuana, according to the plea agreement.
Miranda was also implicated in an incident from September 7, 2023, involving shots fired at a Bourbon County Sheriff’s Deputy. Additionally, in late 2024, Lexington police executed a search warrant at Miranda’s residence after monitoring social media posts showing him holding firearms while out on bond and under electronic monitoring.

During the search of his home, authorities discovered a tan Glock 19X handgun in his bedroom, which Miranda confessed to owning and hiding.

As part of his plea, Miranda agreed to forfeit all seized firearms and ammunition. Miranda previously was convicted in Fayette Circuit Court in March 2021 for first-degree fleeing or evading police using a motor vehicle, a felony offense.
Sentencing guidelines suggest Miranda faces significant federal prison time, but the final decision will rest with Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove at sentencing, pending a full presentence investigation report.
Miranda remains in custody pending his October 6 sentencing hearing.
