News release provided by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government
The aroma of celebration is in the air! Lexington’s year-long 250th anniversary celebration continues in July with all things food!
“July is sure to be the tastiest month of the year,” Mayor Linda Gorton said today. “Lexington is home to one of the finest culinary scenes anywhere. The sights, the smells, the sounds – they tell the story of who we are.”
Connie Jo Miller is the 250Lex Culinary Month Ambassador for July. She has organized the activities.
All month long, 250Lex will be honoring the flavors, chefs, and the restaurants that have helped define Lexington, Gorton said.
A SALUTE TO THE LEXINGTON RESTAURANT COMMUNITY
250Lex is raising a toast to the cooks, waiters, chefs, and managers who make Lexington’s culinary scene shine. At 7 p.m., Sunday, July 13, join the popular Cowboy Cam for Karaoke Sunday at the Lost Palm. Free and open to the public.
THE BOURBON CUP
The inaugural Lexington Bourbon Cup will feature a bourbon-infused cookoff showcasing some of the best chefs in the Bluegrass. Competing chefs include Cole Arimes of Cole’s, 735 Main and Epping’s on Eastside; Paula Endara, of Granddam and Lost Palm; Tyler McNabb, of Holly Hill & Co.; and celebrated Lexington chef Ouita Michel.
The event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 14, at Manchester Hall in the Manchester Hotel. Tickets are $25, with proceeds supporting FoodChain, a local nonprofit working to increase access to fresh, locally sourced food for all.
LEXINGTON RESTAURANT WEEK
Lexington Restaurant Week is bigger and better than ever before. This celebration will feature more restaurants, new participants, and plenty of opportunities to explore the city’s outstanding culinary scene.
“The people behind our locally owned restaurants are just amazing,” Miller said. “They are sincere and hard working. These people are extremely fun, creative, and seriously dedicated at the same time – they inspire teams of people, and run businesses that are honestly vital to any city. We are lucky to have so many locally owned, stand-out restaurants in Lexington! Lexington Restaurant Week is the time celebrate them.”
Lexington Restaurant Week will kick off on Thursday, July 17, and continue through Sunday, July 27. For a full list of participating restaurants, visit https://lexingtonrestaurantweek.com.
