One person has been arrested in connection with an assault that occurred today on Short Street.
On August 13, 2025, around 12:40 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Short Street and N Upper for an assault. When officers arrived, they located a female victim who had been physically assaulted. The victim was transported to a local hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers, along with the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center and Air Support Unit, were able to locate the suspect nearby. Ronald Witham, 39, was arrested for Assault 2nd Degree, and Assault 3rd Degree (Police Officer). He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
