The City of Lexington and the Tree Week Planning Committee invite everyone to a week-long celebration of Lexington’s trees. Tree Week is dedicated to enhancing and appreciating Lexington’s tree canopy through dozens of events for all ages, interests and abilities.
Tree Week begins on Oct. 10 and runs through Oct. 19. Join us for a family-friendly evening of tree planting, music and fun at the Tree Week Kick-off and Tree Planting at McConnell Springs, 416 Rebmann Lane, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10. Mayor Linda Gorton will join the celebration for the signature tree planting.
“Trees are a source of joy, they are good for the environment, and they enhance the quality of life for our residents,” Mayor Gorton said. “Tree Week is one of our signature celebrations, and I’m excited to join the festivities as we commemorate our 250th anniversary – a reminder of how important it is to keep Lexington growing and thriving for generations to come.”
Enjoy trees and green spaces all week with tree plantings and trainings, tours, cooking, scavenger hunts, hikes, yoga, nature activities for children and more! You can even celebrate Lexington’s oldest trees at this year’s Art by Nature: Rooted in Time gallery opening on Oct. 17. Nearly 100 artists submitted works inspired by trees that are over 250 years old to commemorate Lexington’s 250th anniversary.
