The final numbers are in, and Lexington gave big to “Lexington’s Big Give” food drive – 105,815 pounds of food, enough for 88,179 meals, plus $6,000 in monetary donations to God’s Pantry Food Bank!
“These are great results, however, I’m not surprised,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “Lexington always comes through in a big way. Lexington gives and cares whenever we put out the call to help others.”
Anna Russell, Community Engagement Director for God’s Pantry, called the month-long community initiative a “huge success.”
Gorton launched the citywide food drive on Nov. 3, after concerns were raised by leaders of her Social Services Department about Family Care Center families and their need for food assistance.
