For the first time, Lexington celebrated its Korean American Day Proclamation Ceremony and Korean Culture Day (K-Culture Day) on December 5, 2025. Hosted by the Lexington Global Engagement Center (Global Lex) and the Korean American Society of Kentucky (KASK), the event honored the many contributions Korean Americans have made to the city and provided a meaningful opportunity to strengthen connections between the Korean community and Lexington’s broader local and international communities.

Honoring Heritage and History

Korean American Day commemorates the arrival of the first 102 Korean immigrants to Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 13, 1903—marking the beginning of the first large wave of Korean immigration to the United States. These early immigrants and their descendants laid the foundation for a community that has thrived through hard work, strong family values, and enduring community support.
