The Lexington‑Fayette Urban County Government Environmental Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Environmental Commission Environmental Awards, honoring individuals, organizations, businesses and projects that have made significant contributions to improving Lexington’s environment.
The Environmental Awards celebrate outstanding efforts that protect natural resources, promote sustainability, and advance environmental awareness across the community. Eligible projects must have been completed or show demonstrated results between 2020 and Dec. 31, 2025.
Community members, organizations, and institutions are encouraged to submit nominations in one of five award categories:
Nominations are evaluated using a weighted set of criteria including environmental impact, environmental justice, innovation, environmental awareness, partnerships, demonstrated results, and transferability.
