Celebrate 250 years of Lexington and our community’s longest-standing trees at our eighth annual Art by Nature show. Art by Nature: Rooted in Time opens this Friday, Oct. 17, at the Living Arts and Science Center gallery.
Lexington was founded in 1775, and this year’s exhibit celebrates the trees that have been here since the beginning. The trees chosen for artist inspiration are beautiful, resilient and at least 250 years old. Painting, photography, poetry, sculpture and a quilt are among the mediums included in the exhibit.
All are invited to the opening reception on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Living Arts and Science Center, 362 North Martin Luther King Blvd. Enjoy refreshments and meet some of the 94 local artists who created the 139 pieces to find out what inspired them.
“For me, Art by Nature was an opportunity to turn inwards to the community and find different opportunities to help and stay connected,” said Cassandra Theis-Vogl, participating artist and recent Community Environmental Academy graduate.
