Mayor Linda Gorton today joined representatives of Commerce Lexington, the 250Lex Commission, and the Red Mile to highlight Lexington Business Month, part of the city’s year-long 250thanniversary celebration.
“We’re now over halfway through our 250th anniversary, and there’s still so much more to come,” Gorton said. “In August, we are celebrating the legacy of the many local businesses that call Lexington home.”
Commerce Lexington President & CEO Bob Quick said, “We are so excited to honor and recognize the business community as part of this year’s 250Lex celebration. Business has played a critical role in Lexington’s history, and the chamber of commerce has been part of our city’s success for most of it. The chamber has roots dating back to 1797, while the organization you know today as Commerce Lexington got its start in 1881. Businesses of all types and sizes really make us unique, and so many of them have a global reach that provides great visibility for Lexington.”
Business Month includes a celebration of businesses celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2025, like the Red Mile, which is marking its 150th year.
