Crews from the Divisions of Streets & Roads and Water Quality, with contractor support, treated and plowed roads overnight. The day shift will report at 7:30 a.m. Treated roads remain slushy.
Drivers who venture out should allow for extra travel time and use extreme caution. Allow extra time for stopping and keep a safe distance between cars to avoid possible collisions. Be especially careful on bridges and overpasses.
Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., the Lexington Police Department responded to 15 traffic incidents – 12 non-injury collisions, one injury collision and two calls for motorist assistance.
City offices will open to the public on delay, at 10 a.m. Additional snow accumulation is possible. Temperatures are expected to fall through the weekend, with the wind chill expected to fall below zero by early hours on Sunday.
