Compost workshops now open to Fayette County residents

The City of Lexington is hosting its fifth round of home composting workshops. Food waste makes up around a quarter of the waste that is sent to landfills, so reducing food waste can make a big difference. Lexington residents who attend a workshop will receive a voucher for $50 toward the purchase of their own home composter.

These two-hour workshops will cover how to compost using different types of home composter options. Workshops include a presentation, hands-on demonstrations and time for Q&A.

Preregistration is required for all workshops. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Residents who complete one of the workshops will receive a $50 voucher to purchase a composter online. Several types of composters are available, including stationary composters and tumblers. Anyone may purchase a composter through the online store, but the voucher is only available to Fayette County residents who complete a workshop.
