Goodwill opens new Attended Donation Center in Lexington

Lexington donors have a new way to part with their unwanted goods or household times with a newly opened Goodwill Attended Donation Center.

Goodwill uses Attended Donation Centers as alternatives to donating in-store. They’re staffed by an attendant and take clothes and other household items. It’s the first such center outside Louisville in the state.

P.K. Falkenstein of Goodwill Industries of Kentucky says the centers are meant to make donating as quick and easy as possible.

“We will come right out and help you unload, and we’ll take those donations and we’ll get them to the appropriate stores to help with our sales to fund our mission,” Falkenstein said.

Falkenstein says they’ve seen an uptick in donations since their Louisville locations opened last year.

“Those three ABCs in the Louisville area account for over 200 donations a day that help fuel our stores, that help fund our mission,” Falkenstein said. “So we have seen a big uptick in the Louisville area, and we’re hoping we can replicate that in the Lexington area.”

The new center in Lexington has opened at 2285 Versailles Road.

Two more such centers in Lexington, on Nicholasville Road and Georgetown Road. They’re planned to open by the end of September.
