Lexington hosting regular household hazardous waste disposal event Saturday
Originally published by WEKU.
Lexington is hosting its regular hazardous waste collection this Saturday.
The event is meant to help residents get rid of household items in a way that would otherwise be dangerous to the environment.
That includes paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, pesticides and electronic waste. Disposing chemicals unsafely can pollute the air, water or soil.
The city says materials should be loaded in the backseat, trunk, or truck bed of a vehicle in disposable boxes. Electronics should be separated from the rest of the waste.
The collection takes place Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike. Those interested should enter through Jimmie Campbell Drive.
An online survey required before visiting is available here.
