I-75/I-64 Sunday, Sept. 7
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 5, 2025) – Construction for the I-75 widening project in Lexington will require temporary overnight lane closures on Sunday, Sept. 7. This closure will allow contractors to remove the temporary barrier walls for the finished sign bases.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, contractors will close the left lane of I-64/I-75 in both directions between Exit 116 and the I-64/I-75 Northern Split. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8.
Sunday, September 7, weather permitting:
- At 7 p.m., one lane of I-64/I-75 in each direction will close between Exit 116 and the I-64/I-75 Northern Split.
- All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m., Monday, Sept. 8.
- Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.
The work is part of the I-75 widening project. When complete in 2026, this project will reduce congestion and improve safety throughout the 2-mile corridor from the Paris Pike exit to the I-64/I-75 Southern Split. It is the second of two projects to widen I-64/I-75 to four lanes each direction in Fayette County. Find more information online at DrivingLexingtonProgress.org.
All work/closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
