The results are in! Here are our takeaways from the Lexington-Fayette Urban County 2022 local election.
Incumbent Mayor Linda Gorton ran up the score on first term Council Member David Kloiber, who put over $600,000 of his personal fortune into the race ๐ธ Ouch.
Urban County Council Races
It was a progressive(ish) sweep in the Council At-Large race. Dan Wu will be Lexington's next Vice Mayor. James Brown and Chuck Ellinger will be the At-Large Council Members, while Farmer and Moloney were voted off the Council.
Shayla D Lynch, a political newcomer and Executive Director of Carnegie Center for Literacy & Learning, knocked off incumbent District 2 Council Member Josh McCurn in the biggest local surprise of the night; Fred Brown appears to have bested Kenya Williams in a tight District 8 race; and Jennifer Reynolds humiliated Rock Daniels over in District 11.
Judicial Races
The Family Court Judge race seems likely to go to a recount, with a slim vote margin separating Devine and Yahr. Former County Assistant County Attorney Diane Minnifield easily carried Circuit Judge.
