Lexington, Ky broke its annual homicide rate per capita record in 2022

Lexington, Ky–Fayette County had 12.9 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2022, breaking the previous record of 11.42, set in 1986, a year that included a mass murder that left five dead. Lexington’s homicide rate is almost double the US average of 6.52 per 100,000, according to Wikipedia.

Friday’s deadly shooting on Bradley Court was Lexington’s 44th homicide of the year.

At 7:20 p.m., on Friday, December 30, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Bradley Court for a shooting. When officers arrived, they located three male victims suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk. The first male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second male victim suffered reported life-threatening injuries and the third male victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital.
