LMPD: Active shooter in Downtown Louisville “neutralized” – 5 dead, 6 injured
Louisville, Ky.–Multiple casualties have been reported after a shooting incident in Louisville on Monday, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department and other investigative agencies. The incident occurred in the 300 block of East Main Street, near the Louisville Slugger Field.
UPDATE: LMPD confirmed at least five people died and eight were wounded in the shooting. It is not clear if the shooter, who has reportedly been “neutralized”, is included in those numbers. Two law enforcement officers were reportedly among the wounded, with one in critical condition.
The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are both responding to the scene. The police and Mayor Craig Greenberg have requested people to stay away from the area.
Governor Andy Beshear has confirmed the multiple casualties and is heading to Louisville. In a tweet, he requested people to pray for the families impacted and the city of Louisville. Further details of the incident will be provided as soon as possible.
