Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East Announces $125,000 Grant to Improve Labor and Delivery Care

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East, a leading facility dedicated to women’s and neonatal health services, has announced a significant boost to its labor and delivery care capabilities. A $125,000 grant from WHAS Crusade for Children will fund the purchase of new equipment to enhance care for premature babies and those with special needs.

The grant will specifically target the replacement of vital monitors and warmers within the Birthing Center, ensuring that the hospital continues to provide the highest level of care to patients 28 weeks or older in the Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The new equipment will also improve care for infants suffering from neonatal abstinence syndrome and other special needs.

“We are so grateful for the support of WHAS Crusade for Children,” said Delaine Thiel, CFRE, vice president of philanthropy, CHI Saint Joseph Health Foundations. “This grant will allow us to purchase needed equipment that will enhance our ability to provide the best care for our tiniest patients.”

The Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East is the only freestanding Kentucky hospital solely focused on women’s and neonatal health services. With nearly 1,700 babies born at the hospital each year, the grant comes as a significant support to the 14% of those babies who require specialized care in the NICU.

Jennifer Nolan, president of Saint Joseph East, emphasized the importance of the grant, stating, “Thanks to support from the WHAS Crusade for Children, we will have the most up-to-date equipment to care for them.”

WHAS Crusade for Children, a long-standing supporter of children’s health, expressed pride in assisting the Women’s Hospital in its mission. “This funding will help ensure that the hospital has the resources to provide the best available care for the most vulnerable patients in the NICU,” said Dawn Lee, President, and CEO of the WHAS Crusade for Children.
