Emma Curtis announces Council run
LEXINGTON, KY–Emma Curtis, a prominent transgender activist, announced today she will run for the 4th District Council seat currently held by Brenda Monarrez.
On Instagram, Curtis wrote,
Friends, I am proud to announce my candidacy to represent Lexington’s 4th Council District!
I’m running because our district deserves a Councilmember who will show up, do the work, and stand for working families.
As a renter, I am experiencing the consequences of Lexington’s affordable housing crisis firsthand on a daily basis.
As a young, working class person, I know what it’s like to watch my tax dollars go towards policies that actively make it harder for folks like me to thrive.
And as somebody who is deeply passionate about community building and civic engagement, I know that public service is about serving the public, not about serving yourself.
I humbly ask you to join our campaign to move Lexington forward together, toward a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future.
You can do so by making a contribution at the link in my bio and by staying engaged on this page for more updates.
I look forward to earning your vote in this May’s primary!
