In Photos: Advocates rally in Lexington to support the unhoused, as HB 5 set to take effect

Lexington, Ky.–Advocates for the homeless gathered Monday at the Catholic Action Center in anticipation of arguments in the Supreme Court case of Johnson v. Grants Pass, as well as to protest Kentucky’s own HB 5 legislation. The event was hosted by the Street Voice Council.

The event was marked by a large banner proclaiming, “Ain’t No Crime To Be Homeless,” a statement defiant against the bill that has sparked widespread concern for its approach to criminalizing homelessness.

Our photo article will take you through the day, showcasing the faces and emotions of those who rallied, cooked out, and stood in unity. Through these images, witness Lexington’s call for empathy and change, a poignant reminder that the impact of legislation like HB 5 is felt on the streets where real lives are lived every day.
