UPDATE: The Director of Lextran, Fred Combs, has informed us (BUILD) that the Board of Directors will be voting on the full $75,000 allocation for the microtransit study on April 24th, a decision we wholeheartedly support. We stand committed to seeing this vote through and ensuring the funding is secured. The microtransit study holds the potential to revolutionize transportation accessibility and enhance mobility options in Lexington.
Lexington, KY – Lextran, the public transportation authority in Lexington, unveiled its proposed 2025 budget last week, sparking concern within the community. The budget initially promised full funding for a crucial microtransit study, only to backtrack to no funding, and now settling at half funding.
The changes in funding have drawn criticism from residents. The community’s voice has been clear: anything less than full funding for the microtransit study is unacceptable.
With the budget set to be voted on April 24th, the community is rallying for support. Residents are invited to join a gathering on Wednesday, April 24th, to demonstrate solidarity and demand full funding for the microtransit study.
