The voting period for this year’s state primary elections starts this week. The early voting period starts Thursday and continues through Saturday.

Those who can’t make it to the polls on election day can sign up for in-person excused absentee voting, which runs from Monday through Wednesday.

Governor Andy Beshear said during a recent press conference that excused absentee voting is a valid option to make the election process more accessible.

“If you know you’re going to be out of town on election day or those early voting days, you can go in, you’ve got to sign a form, and you can cast your vote,” Beshear said.

Kentucky will host its primary election May 21. Information on where to vote can be found at local county clerk’s offices or online.
