Special Committee Meeting on new potential short-term rental regulations

On Thursday, August 29th at 3pm in Council Chambers, the General Government and Planning (GGP) Committee will hold a special meeting to discuss potential new regulations for short-term rentals (STRs) in Lexington.

The GGP Committee has not shared their meeting packet yet, so we don’t know what exactly will be discussed. However, according to an email from Engage Lexington announcing the meeting, the Committee will discuss:

  • Adding distance requirements for STRs, meaning that a new STR unit cannot be located within a certain radius of an existing STR

  • A formula that could help determine if there are too many STRs in a neighborhood

If any changes are made to current STR regulations, the Planning Commission would be tasked with reviewing, potentially revising, and then approving or disapproving the new regulations.

You can read our coverage of past STR regulations and discussions here.

The Special General Government and Planning Committee Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 3pm in Council Chambers. You can attend in-person or watch live on LexTV.
