The town of Hopkinsville is one of the latest to be surprised that its local hospital is planning to join a larger health care system, prompting community members to form a group to push back on the decision.

In September, Jennie Stuart Health signed a letter of intent to join Deaconess Health System in Evansville, Ind.

In response to this action,  a group calling itself Save Jennie Stuart filed an article of incorporation aimed at convincing the hospital to slow or abandon its plans to affiliate with Deaconess Health, Jennifer P. Brown reports for Hoptown Chronicle.

Most recently, the Chronicle reports that Jennie Stuart Health will be hosting an informational session at 6 p.m. this week on Wednesday, Oct. 30, concerning plans for Deaconess Health to acquire the hospital.
