Tomorrow, Lexington’s “A Sense of Place” initiative will dedicate a new historic marker at Cadentown Cemetery, honoring the lives and legacy of those laid to rest there.
“Cadentown is a very important piece of our city’s history, and we are proud to continue our work to preserve its history for future generations,” Mayor Linda Gorton said.
The “A Sense of Place” Steering Committee is a recipient of a 250Lex Community Grant, which supported the historic marker for the cemetery, and a new exhibit showcasing the Cadentown Rosenwald Schoolhouse at Cadentown. The dedication ceremony is at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at 705 Caden Lane. The “A Sense of Place” celebration continues until 3 p.m.
Following the dedication, guests are invited to view the exhibit, hear reflections on the legacy of the Rosenwald Schools, and explore artifacts and stories that preserve and bring life to the Cadentown community.
