Corrections & retractions

Last updated: May 12, 2026

This page logs corrections, retractions, and substantive post-publication edits made to articles on lexingtonky.news. We do not silently change published material; if a factual error is corrected after publication, it is recorded here. The machine-readable surface at feeds.lexingtonky.news keeps its own correction log at feeds.lexingtonky.news/corrections.

How to flag an error

Email [email protected] with:

  • The article URL.
  • The specific claim or passage you believe is wrong.
  • A pointer to the correct information (preferred), or just a description of what you believe is in error.

You will get a reply, typically the same day. If the claim is in error we will correct the article, log the change here, and credit the source of the correction unless you ask us not to. If we disagree, we will explain our reasoning.

Editorial standards

  • Sourcing. Every article carries a visible link to the public-record or public-news source it was summarised from. Anything not in that source should not appear in the brief.
  • Paraphrase, don’t reproduce. Source content beyond a fair-use title-plus-summary is paraphrased, not quoted in bulk.
  • No silent edits. If a published article is changed in a way that affects meaning, it is logged here and noted in an editor’s note on the article itself.
  • Algorithmic transparency. Articles produced with AI assistance carry a per-article disclosure naming the model. The full methodology is documented at feeds.lexingtonky.news/about/methodology.

May 12, 2026 — Secretary of State HB 4 ceremonial signing

Article: Kentucky Secretary of State to hold ceremonial signing for child grooming law (originally headlined “Kentucky Secretary of State to sign child grooming bill into law”)

What was wrong: The original headline and body framed Tuesday’s event at the Secretary of State’s office as Secretary Michael Adams signing HB 4 into law. HB 4 was already law — Gov. Andy Beshear signed it on April 10, 2026 (legislative record). The event at Secretary Adams’s office was a ceremonial signing, not the bill becoming law.

What was changed: Headline rewritten to “Kentucky Secretary of State to hold ceremonial signing for child grooming law.” Lead paragraph rewritten to note Beshear’s April 10 signing. Closing logistics paragraph corrected from “The bill signing is scheduled” to “The ceremonial signing is scheduled.” An editor’s note was appended to the article itself.

Flagged by: Nick Storm, Director of Communications, Kentucky Secretary of State.
