Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative March in Downtown Richmond
LEXINGTON, Ky. (January 15, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of traffic changes scheduled for Richmond, Madison County. Temporary adjustments will be necessary for the Commemorative March happening in downtown Richmond on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 19th, 2026. The Richmond Police Department will be assisting with traffic.
Monday, Jan. 19 – from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 11:30 a.m., note that the sections below will be closed:
- Lancaster Avenue/KY 52 from Water Street (a city route) to Main Street/US 25X (MP 1.510)
- Main Street/US 25X at First Christian Church entrance to Second Street (a city route)
- Third Street (a city route) from West Irvine Street (a city route) to Water Street
Motorists should expect and plan for delays — heavy traffic is expected.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis, and subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
District 7 includes: Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Scott and Woodford Counties
