Guardrail installation beneath West Main Street bridge
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 20, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists and area residents of bridge maintenance on West Main Street (U.S. 421) at milepoint 0.8 on Monday, Mar. 9, in Fayette County. The structure carries U.S. 421 over Norfolk Southern Railroad, Price Street and Turner Commons Way.
Work will occur from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, March 9, when guardrail will be installed beneath the bridge to prevent storage of vehicles and materials in that area to reduce future risk of damage to the structure.
As a reminder, use of right of way under the bridge is prohibited. Vehicles and property remaining in the area may be towed or removed.
All work and/or closures are scheduled on a tentative basis and are subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
