This afternoon, Lexington is hosting its sixth Clean Slate Expungement Clinic, offering people a second chance at life.
Expungement can remove hurdles to voting, employment, education, and housing. The clinic continues until 5 p.m. today at the Davis Park Workforce Center, 501 De Roode St.
“Our Clean Slate Lexington Expungement Clinics have been well attended and have served as a beacon of hope for many in our community,” Mayor Linda Gorton said. “These clinics help residents expunge their records from low level, non-violent offenses, allowing them to start a new chapter in their lives with dignity and hope.”
Today’s clinic served about 100 people. To date, over 2,000 people have received expungement-related services throughout the City’s Clean Slate initiatives. The clinics offer residents the possibility of expunging qualifying misdemeanors and felonies from their criminal records.
In addition to expungement, WORK-Lexington partners will be at the clinic to assist residents with employment, employer connections, job searching, resumes, and partner referrals.
