Mayor Linda Gorton’s new Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness will begin work next week, looking for new approaches to tackle a growing concern.
“Homelessness is a challenge most American cities share,” Gorton said. “It is growing across our state and nation even though significant funding and resources have been devoted to it.
“Like other cities, our numbers increased last year, despite the work of the city and many partners across the community,” she said. “I’m determined to do better.”
The group’s first meeting is set for 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, Third Floor Conference Room, Phoenix Building, 101 E. Vine St. The meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be live-streamed online at lexingtonkygov. More information is available here.
