Black ice is possible
LEXINGTON, Ky. (January 17, 2026) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises that crews have continued to monitor routes. Personnel have treated patrolled routes for counties within the district as needed. Wet roads can present hazardous driving conditions.
Motorists should remember that as temperatures drop this evening there is the possibility of black ice. Black ice can form on previously treated asphalt and concrete. Ice develops on bridges, overpasses, and ramps prior to surface level roadways.
