Environmental Service’s community outreach update

image

In Tuesday’s Environmental Quality and Public Works Committee meeting, Councilmembers will hear a Community Outreach Update by Angela Poe, Public Information and Engagement (PIE) Section Manager.

In Fiscal Year 2024, PIE was involved in several programs, ranging from storm drain painting to creek sweeps to leading the City’s composting program. They also interacted with over 4,800 community members through eight major PIE-led events and worked with apartments, neighborhood associations, faith communities, and more to work toward environmental efforts.

In the upcoming year, PIE is planning to add, revive, or revise several programs, including creating a new Waste Reduction Week campaign. PIE will also work to expand interpretation and translation of their programs and materials in Spanish and Swahili.

The Environmental Quality and Public Works Committee will meet on Tuesday, October 22nd at 1pm in Council Chambers. You can attend in-person or watch live on LexTV.
