Kentucky could be looking at the first snow of the season

The first snow of the season is expected in much of the commonwealth Thursday and Friday, but warm temperatures are likely to keep accumulations low. Dustin Jordan is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Jackson. He said the wintry weather will begin with a mix of rain and snow.
“For the most part, the more steadier snowfall will more than likely come Thursday evening into early Friday morning, which most of that should gradually change back to rain on Friday through the day.”
Jordan said areas of southeastern Kentucky with elevations above 1,500 feet will see the most snow.
“You could be talking two-to-four-inch snowfall amounts in those areas, maybe locally higher amounts as you get above 3,000 feet. But those areas really will be where you get the most now, in other parts of the area is probably going to be mostly on grassy services.”
Jordan said central Kentucky is forecast to receive lesser amounts of snow.
