A Lexington Police Officer has been involved in an on-duty shots fired incident.
On September 8, 2025, around 2:05 am, officers were dispatched for a reported robbery that occurred in the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive. When officers arrived, they learned that an individual had been robbed, and their vehicle was taken. Officers were able to locate the vehicle at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive.
Officers arrived at the apartment complex when an individual with a rifle fled on foot. Officers followed the individual, and the individual fired a shot. One officer returned gunfire. No one was struck by the shots fired. The suspect sustained reported minor injuries from the foot pursuit and was treated at a local hospital. They have since been released and are in custody.
In accordance with Lexington Police Department policies, the officers had their issued body-worn cameras (BWCs) activated.
