Overnight Road Closure Scheduled for New Circle Road (KY 4) in Lexington Thursday, Sept. 25

Expect delays on New Circle Road westbound between 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2025)  Construction for the New Circle Road (KY 4) Widening project in Lexington will require a temporary overnight road closure on New Circle Road westbound (outer loop) on Thursday, Sept. 25. The closure will allow work crews to pour the new concrete bridge deck.

Beginning Thursday, Sept. 25, at 10 p.m., contractors will close New Circle Road westbound prior to the Leestown Road exit up until the Leestown Road exit, between mile markers 7.7 – 7.1. All roads will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday morning, Sept. 26. Traffic will divert from the New Circle Road outer loop onto Leestown Road. From Leestown Road, drivers can continue straight to get back onto the New Circle Road outer loop.

Thursday, Sept. 25

  • At 10 p.m., New Circle Road (KY 4) westbound will close prior to the Leestown Road exit, up until the Leestown Road exit (MM 7.7 – 7.1).
  • Drivers will be diverted from the New Circle Road outer loop onto Leestown Road. From Leestown Road, they can continue straight to get back onto the New Circle Road outer loop.
  • All roads will reopen by 5 a.m. Friday morning.
  • Delays are possible; please plan accordingly.

The work is part of the New Circle Road widening project. When complete in 2027, the project will increase the capacity and operation of New Circle Road and the Leestown Road interchange, improving safety and travel times in this rapidly-growing area of Lexington.
