The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s Division of Planning will host a community workshop as part of the Downtown Area Master Plan on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center, 300 East Third St. This will be the first in a series of in-person events the Division of Planning will host to gather community input on topics including commuting, housing, zoning and more.

“This Downtown Area Master Plan is about honoring the spirit of our community – all of the resilience and creativity that has shaped downtown over the years,” said Boyd Sewe, project manager. “It’s also about imagining our city’s future and making sure we have a vibrant downtown that is a source of pride for everyone who calls Lexington home. We’re asking, how can we carry forward the best of downtown’s legacy while opening the door to new opportunities? We really hope the whole community shows up, everyone is welcome!”

This workshop will be open-house style with themed stations for discussions. Residents are welcome at any time during the two-hour event. Light refreshments and a family-friendly creative activity in the courtyard will also be available.
