National Gun Violence Memorial humanizes victims of Lexington gun violence
The National Gun Violence Memorial has set up a page for recent victims of Lexington gun violence.
The Memorial homepage says its mission is to make gun violence victims “Real people, not just statistics.” According to the group, 105,228 have died this year due to gun violence.
Each Lexington victim’s page has a moderated memorial where users can add notes about their nickname, number of children, personality, occupation, workplace, schools attended, and comments.
Kentucky, like many rural states, has seen gun violence surge at an alarming rate recently. Kentucky’s murder rate increased by 58% in 2020, the most recent year the statistic is available for.
The page for Lexington victims is located at https://gunmemorial.org/KY/lexington
