Options for fall leaf disposal

a dozen or so paper bags full of leaves set out on the curb in a neighborhood

Autumn is finally here. The leaves are changing colors and starting to fall. On Oct. 27, the City will begin expanded weekly yard waste collection to make sure leaves are collected efficiently throughout the season.

There are multiple ways to dispose of your leaves this fall. If you have City waste collection, yard waste is picked up each week on your regular collection day. Fill your gray yard cart first and then use paper yard waste bags. No plastic bags should be used for yard waste.

Starting Oct. 27, contractors will assist Waste Management by collecting yard waste bags. Waste Management trucks will collect carts. Bags and carts will be picked up at different times on your regular collection day.

Yard waste and leaves can also be taken to the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility, 4216 Hedger Lane. The facility is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. You must arrive by 5 p.m. to guarantee service. The facility is closed Wednesdays, weekends and holidays.
