Kentucky Community and Technical College System examining itself

The Kentucky General Assembly earlier this year called upon the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to do a deep dive on higher education matters. That process is underway.
The KCTCS Board of Regents this month approved a response plan to the request contained in Senate Joint Resolution 179. KCTCS President and former state representative Ryan Quarles characterized it as a “once in a generation” opportunity to design the community and technical college roadmap. The legislation identified 11 topics for study including academic and training programming and relevancy of credentials, a comprehensive state workforce plan, consolidations, accreditation, and governance structure. The plan is due December tenth to the Legislative Research Commission.
During the Bowling Green meeting, the Regents also approved a 3% pay raise for all regular full-time employees hired on or before March 31st.
