Police: victims of July 28 Trent Blvd. shooting were juveniles

According to a report published by the Lexington Police Department, the victims of a July 28 Trent Blvd shooting were both under the age of 16. The shooting occurred about 2.5 miles away from the site of a homicide that occurred earlier in the day.

Multiple social media users in the area reported hearing 15 shots fired in the wee hours of the morning. Several claimed that it was “an AK-47,” and while that is possible, a firearms expert recently suggested it may have been a handgun with an extended magazine.

Gun violence among youths is one of Mayor Linda Gorton’s current focal points with her One Lexington initiative. She says they have seen gun violence drop among local youths recently.
